The view from my room was breathtaking. Both breakfasts and dinners were buffet style and the food was very good and filling. My room was very clean and the bathroom was not the typical tiny afterthought. My only complaint would be that as I had the top floor, the roof was immediately overhead and my ceiling was at a slant. This provided awkward positioning for the shower curtain as I attempted to shower without including those on the floor below me. Notwithstanding, I would put up with this anytime for the opportunity to return!
The quiet location, away from the main street in Wengen. The lovely grand decor. The very hospitable staff. Wonderful views from balcony. Comfort and decor of room, with 2 sinks!
The pack lunch was not at all up to standard - merely a single sandwich, a drink and a piece of chocolate...they forgot the fruit and for a cost of CHF12.50......left a rather sour taste in the mouth after having excellent buffet dinner the night before for a cost of chf25.
For those who like some antique furniture but a brand new bathroom and quiet location (Wengen is a car free small village), this is a nice option. Staff was friendly, room was clean and very important to me, the bathroom ahs been recently renovated and spotless. One night I could hear the kids from next room but the whole family went quiet at 22:00, so no problem.
Stayed here for a just a weekend stay. The hotel was quite charming, though perhaps a bit past its prime. Rooms comfortable, staff friendly and meals good. The kids' playroom left a bit to be desired, but my young boys enjoyed it anyway. The walk to the train station was just a little more than five minutes. Not luxurious, but very comfortable. Would stay here again.
Room was small for 4 persons family. Breakfast was almost same menu and choices. We do Not think this hotel is good for Family visit.
Good service. Excellent food at the breakfast buffet and dining in the evening. Breathtaking views from the rooms offering "mountain views". The view down into the Lauterbrunnen Valley will take your breath away. Comfortable rooms and very clean.
No complaints. A pleasant stay.
comfortable hotel in beautiful location with friendly staff and good value
- Nice breakfast and very attentive staff at breakfast. - Excellent followup on reservation questions and email requests about reservation.
- Exorbitant charges for wireless internet - you are better off with BeFree plan from SwissCom and tethering wireless off your smartphone. - Far from train station (hence distant from other restaurants and grocery store - as most of them are near train station). They do provide pickup/dropoff from train station which is very helpful. - Non existent playroom for children at the basement of the building
We enjoyed our stay at Belverde
Girl at reception (Nadja ?) was exceptionally accomodating and informative. The room we evetually got was spacious and well ventilated, with the breath-taking view typical of Wengen.
As one of the first hotels in Wengen it could do with some rennovation esp. Of the furniture, balconies and reception hall.
Excellent location to go up to jungfraouch. Area has enough eateries, shops, ATMs and also gives some great views of its own of the snow capped mountains
think it is definitely expensive but so are hotels in switzerland i guess
We loved the oldness and family feel of the Belvedere. We also loved its proximity to the trails. We didnt even have a mountain view room and our view was amazing. Breakfast was wonderful!
The bedding and mattresses could use an update. Otherwise, we loved the antique feel.
Very nicely located. We had a room with the view of jaugfrau, and it was great. We were on our honeymoon and really enjoyed the stay in wengen and the hotel.
A very nice, classic older hotel in Murren. We stayed for 2 nights in the newer chateau which was a very comfortable room, indeed. The location is the Swiss Alps in incredible. The views were everywhere one turned. I found the staff to be helpful. The buffet breakfast didn't quite measure up to some we had in some other nearby locations. We took the ride up the cablecar to the Schilthorn which is a "must do." Another idea is to hike down to Gimmelwald and then take the cablecar back to Murren. The town is hard to part with. It's everything one would expect in the Alps.
Very well renovated hotel-highly motivated staff-really well managed-comfort, calm, relaxing-superb food-no suprises
